Dhaka city dwellers experienced a rare opportunity to take a boat ride along key thoroughfares as the roads went under knee- to chest-deep water due to torrential heavy downpour on Saturday, reports UNB.

Members of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) provided the facilities as the regular public and private transports remained off the street for hours.
According to the fire service headquarters, the FSCD members ferried city dwellers, especially women, children and students at a number of city points, including Motijheel, Arambagh, Karwan Bazar, and Shewrapara, as part of their service-oriented activities.
Incessant rains across the country since Thursday night, triggered by a depression in the Bay, has brought life to a standstill in the capital as well as elsewhere in the country.
